With the Minister of Islamic Affairs during my visit to the Maldives

Asalaamu alaykum,

There is only one Islam, but it has so many beautiful faces throughout the world. I get a chance to see this diversity when I travel. My recent visit to the Maldives reminded me once more about this. The Maldives islands are truly beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Even more beautiful, though, was the reception I received when I was there, not only from the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Abdul Majeed Abdel Bari, who invited me, but also from the ordinary Muslims who attended my talks and made my stay such a delight.

Aswell as the public talks, which were relayed on Maldives TV, I was really pleased to meet and listen to some of the youth and to discuss with them how to talk about Islam with their friends at college and university. After this first visit I look forward to returning again soon, inshallah.

I am in Egypt for a few days before I travel to Canada on Friday for a Dawah Conference in Toronto on Saturday and Sunday, inshallah. You can find more details about this on our facebook group.

Before that  I am looking forward to giving a seminar at Al Azhar University on Thursday, preparing some of the staff and students there to travel to the UK for Ramadan, inshallah.
